Please join us in congratulating the faculty who received an Award for Excellence in Teaching for the Summer 2014 semester. Recipients are selected by the Teaching Awards Selection Sub-Committee which is comprised of faculty from each department. The Sub-Committee\u2019s selection is based on a review of the overall course evaluations, including instructor ratings and student comments.<\/p>\n

Our students were very satisfied with their experiences in the classroom this summer. They are appreciative of faculty efforts to incorporate different techniques to promote learning, to include timely topics, to engage them in exciting discussions, and to provide them with opportunities to learn and master important skills.<\/p>\n

Nutritional Epidemiology<\/h5>\n

“Paula is a fantastic instructor. She knows the content so well as an experienced nutritionist and a trained epidemiologist. She selected excellent readings that enriched my understanding of both this class and EPI methods in general. This class sparked my interest in the intersection between diet and environmental toxicants and encouraged me to examine this relationship further in my own research. I was so sad to see this class end.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

“I appreciated the opportunity to practice effective communication skills with provocative material. The course required students to elevate their thinking and learn to dialogue despite the charged nature of the topic. This isn’t a skill we get to practice much. I valued the open discussion format.
