Career and Practicum Fair<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The Career and Practicum Office<\/a> hosted a job fair for on-campus MPH students, dual degree candidates, and recent SPH graduates in Heibert Lounge on Wednesday, March 26. The students connected with public health employers across a range of industries to learn more about opportunities for practicums, internships, fellowships, and other available positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SPH Researchers Table at Boston Museum of Science<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, April 26, a group of researchers led by Patricia Fabian<\/a>, associate professor of environmental health, presented findings from SPH’s Chelsea and East Boston Heat (C-HEAT) study<\/a> during Rise Up Boston<\/a>, a special, day-long event dedicated to climate change education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students Deliver Class Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students enrolled in SPH’s two-part series of courses on academic writing, A Guided Epidemiologic Study (EP816)<\/a> and Research Dissemination Seminar (PH880)<\/a>, have the opportunity to develop an original manuscript suitable for inclusion in a peer-reviewed journal, if they choose to pursue publication. Under the guidance of Koichiro Shiba<\/a>, the course instructor and an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology, the students work in small groups to develop a research question, conduct a literature review, perform analysis of real-world data, summarize their results in writing, and present their findings to an audience of their peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Birthing and Raising the Next Generation: Holistic Approaches to Advance Racial and Social Equity <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BU President Melissa Gilliam delivered the opening address for a Public Health Conversation and panel discussion that explored racial and social equity in maternal health. “Birthing and Raising the Next Generation: Holistic Approaches to Advance Racial and Social Equity<\/a>” was held in conjunction with the BUSPH Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice to celebrate the center’s 30th anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
