Brown has played a chief role in developing and executing the suite of dean\u2019s seminars, public health fora, diversity &amp; inclusion seminars, symposia, and \u201cThink. Teach. Do.\u201d alumni receptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large\"><p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud of our team\u2019s ability to respond quickly to community needs.\u201d<\/p><cite>Meredith Brown, assistant director of strategic initiatives<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">\u201cIf there is anything that has changed over the years, it\u2019s that we receive much more input about events from faculty, staff, and students,\u201d Brown says. \u201cThis community is the most valuable aspect of the program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">From a 400 Years of Inequality symposium to seminars on homelessness, voting, racial profiling, gun violence, and teaching public health, the dean\u2019s office has hosted public health conversations with internal and external partners, including Development &amp; Alumni Relations, Diversity &amp; Inclusion, the Activist Lab, the School of Social Work, the BU Initiative on Cities, and WBUR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">Virtual engagement through live-streaming and live-tweeting the programs has increased steadily over the past two years, making seamless the temporary transition to an all-online format due to COVID-19 restrictions in the spring semester\u2019s second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">\u201cI\u2019m very proud of our team\u2019s ability to respond quickly to community needs,\u201d Brown says.<br>\u201cDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, we worked hard to keep our community socially connected, despite physical distancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">\u201cIt\u2019s great that we bring experts to campus and students are able to connect with them in a meaningful way that advances their careers,\u201d she says, noting that the most popular aspect of Public Health Conversations is the student lunches, where students\u2014some of whom even secure practicum opportunities as a result\u2014meet with featured speakers for a more informal and intimate conversation before the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">\u201cSpeakers always tell me that their favorite part of the program is meeting our students\u2014that\u2019s such an important reflection of our school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bu-stats sphnews-block-bu-stats has-1-stats\"><figure class=\"wp-block-bu-stats-figure\"><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stats-row\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat sphnews-block-bu-stat has-circle1-color-primary has-circle2-color-light has-number-size-2\"><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat-container-outer\"><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat-container-inner\"><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat-text-pre\">SPH has hosted upwards of<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat-number\">140+<\/div><div class=\"wp-block-bu-stat-text-post\">Signature Programs since 2015, featuring 300+ speakers and reaching 100,000
