\"Matthew Matthew Fox<\/a><\/span> (SPH\u201902,\u201907) professor of epidemiology and global health, joined the editorial board of the Journal of the International AIDS Society<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>as a deputy editor in May 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fox is co-director of the\u00a0Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE2<\/sup>RO)<\/span><\/a>, a collaboration between researchers from BU and South Africa\u2019s\u00a0University of Witwatersrand. In his work at HE2<\/sup><\/span>RO, Fox analyzes treatment data to find solutions to bettering HIV treatment, broadening treatment access, and improving outcomes in South Africa, where more than 3 million people are being treated for HIV. <\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0World Health Organization\u00a0has formulated treatment protocols based in part on Fox\u2019s work, and he is the primary investigator or co-investigator on grants from the\u00a0World Bank, the\u00a0Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and\u00a0USAID\/South Africa. Fox has co-written a book on his data-driven research methods,\u00a0Applying Quantitative Bias Analysis to Epidemiologic Data<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am particularly excited about joining the editorial board at JIAS<\/i> both because of the quality of the publication and also because of their commitment to supporting work from researchers from resource-limited settings,\u201d Fox says.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1988, the International AIDS Society (IAS)<\/span><\/a> is the world\u2019s largest association of HIV professionals, with members from more than 180 countries working on all fronts of the global AIDS response. IAS promotes and invests in HIV advocacy and research on key issue areas through strategic programs, initiatives, campaigns, and its peer-reviewed platform, the Journal of the International AIDS Society<\/i><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n
