SPH at APHA 2024: Galea, Annas, Fox to Be Honored
The 2024 American Public Health Association Annual Meeting & Expo will take place in Minneapolis Oct. 27-30. Here is a rundown of SPH’s participation in the conference, including awards for Dean Sandro Galea, George Annas, and Matthew Fox; oral and poster presentations; an exhibit hall booth; and an Alumni & Friends reception.
More than 12,000 emerging and established public health practitioners are registered to attend the Annual American Public Health Association Conference in Minneapolis, October 27-30, 2024. Members of the School of Public Health community will reconvene with public health colleagues from around the globe. Highlights include:
- Dean Sandro Galea to receive the Wade Hampton Frost Lectureship Award. This APHA Epidemiology Section award is the oldest award given by the Epidemiology Section and recognizes excellence in research and scholarship.
- George Annas, William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor, and Director of the Center for Health Law, Ethics & Human Rights, to receive 2024 Distinguished Career Award from the APHA Ethics Section.
- Matthew Fox, professor of epidemiology and global health, to receive the Abraham Lilienfeld Award. This APHA Epidemiology Section award recognizes excellence in the teaching of epidemiology during the course of a career.
- Abstracts and presentations from SPH faculty, students, staff, and alumni (a complete schedule is below).
- An engaging exhibit hall booth.
- A reception for Alumni & Friends at the Hotel Ivy, Minneapolis on Monday, October 28.
