There are 2 comments on Depression, Anxiety, Loneliness Are Peaking in College Students

  1. Very important work. One thing not addressed by expanded mental health services or by faculty adjusting coursework or deadlines is the ability of new college students to make friends (hugely impaired by pandemic distancing and masking) which is a very big deal for those thrust into a new living situation and environment who then remain essentially alone. Anything structural that can be done for them in this regard to facilitate the ability to meet people might go a long way towards improving mental health.

  2. Another article about the significant critical research of Dr. Lipson. Is that to look good on paper?

Where is Dean Elmore and why is he not listening or taking any action with the head of Student Activities? The Dean is silent despite hundreds of appeals to him since September. No one is asking for COVID safety to be lessened. No one is asking for testing to stop. But why the apathy about student well being?

Posting this research so proudly and yet when BU experts like Dr.Lipson keep warning and asking for change to protect the mental health of students – NOTHING is done.
Just as long as the tuition is coming in right? This is truly sad. BU has incredible faculty and an administration that is tone deaf except to athletes who are fine and able to continue their sports and safe socialization. while the well being of all other students is ignored. The silence is extremely disappointing. The damage has been done to many without any one feeling responsible at BU.
It’s not too late to help students heal and feel like they matter. And has anyone bothered to check on LFA students who were once on campus but left feeling abandoned and troubled? It is truly sad and parents are afraid of retaliation so they do not speak up here only in our group many wondering why BU chooses to do nothing to improve the pain of many isolated depressed and disillusioned students. What would the late Rep. John Lewis say? What damage has already been done when interventions were possible?
“ When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something..”

Never underestimate the value of a person’s mental health and well being. Listen to Dr.Lipson.
