  1. This study was being used in California legislative proposed bill to ban adolescent football despite Dr. Sterns admonishment not to extrapolate the study for policy decisions. I think for obvious reasons ie. no controls. Maybe those kids with behavior or mental health issues were steered toward football as an outlet for their problems.
    A possible control group might exist by finding a similar cohort that chose basketball or baseball as a youth sport where the head injury aspect isn’t an issue.
