As we head into a federal electoral season, there are few issues that have more engaged our national conversation around health than the potential of single-payer approaches to solve the perennial challenge of optimizing health system function in the country. And yet, the national conversation is often unclear about the political, economic, and practical opportunities and challenges that a single-payer approach entails.
