Dear Colleagues:
As discussed at the recent staff breakfast, the central SPH administrative team has been working with the Administrative Council on developing a Best Practices Handbook that will be available for all staff and faculty in the spring of 2018. The handbook is a complement to the soon-to-be-released Faculty Handbook, developed by the Research & Faculty Development team, and is intended to offer a one-stop collection of guidance and policies about how we can ensure best administrative practices throughout the school.
As we are developing the Best Practices Handbook, I will be sending out draft sections to the school community, aiming to do so every Friday. The idea is that everyone can see these documents evolve, can see where we are headed on a range of administrative practices, and also offer feedback. For any of these documents, please reach out to me directly with feedback and comments, and I will work with the team on integrating.
Today I am starting with a section on People Hiring, ranging from hiring to onboarding. Note that in the final handbook, each of these sections will be accompanied by an index that will list the key staff who are responsible for each function; staff responsible for this section are Krissy Zambouras and Patricia Gonzalez—with thanks to Krissy and Patty for their work on this section.
As always, I welcome all input and look forward to to hearing comments as we release these sections; my hope is that this handbook can be as useful as possible to all of us as we aim to have the best run school in the world.
Warm regards,
Susan Foster
