Brierley, one of only two students awarded the fellowship nationally, will spend the next year in Washington D.C. gaining knowledge of private sector organizations, association and coalitions, as well as policy development centers in Congress and the Administration.

The first three months will be spent in immersive visits to policy development organizations, with the final nine months spent learning about issues at a single placement location that allows each Fellow to explore current health policy issues in depth while gaining invaluable, firsthand experience in policy making.

The fellowship was awarded through the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, a worldwide network of more than 400 colleges, universities, faculty, individuals and organizations dedicated to the improvement of healthcare delivery through excellence in healthcare management and policy education.
