I have been in Boston my whole life. I recently graduated from Boston University with a BA in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics, and a minor in Public Health. I am excited to combine my interests in data analysis and public health in biostatistics. As a future public health professional, I am committed to reducing health disparities to minimize disproportionately affected populations. Aside from academics, I love trying new foods, drinking boba, and hiking.
I grew up on Long Island and spent the last 6 years in Buffalo. I first earned my BS in Psychology and BA in Statistics at the University at Buffalo and then worked on behavioral health and nutrition research in infants as a research support specialist after graduating. I decided to pursue my MS in Applied Biostatistics because I wanted to be more hands-on with data analysis and study design. I am particularly interested in projects addressing health disparities for marginalized groups of people. Outside of school, I love art, music, and cooking. I was in a band and an art collective with my friends back in Buffalo, and would love to continue to do that here in my free time!
After graduating from Bard College with my BA in Biology, I spent time collecting data on commercial fishing boats around New England and working in environmental science labs at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. I earned my MS at the University of New Hampshire, studying Marine Biology. It was while I was analyzing my thesis data, looking at the impacts of ocean acidification on winter flounder inner ear bones, that I realized my interest in statistics. I am excited to be moving into the biostatistics world!
I am originally from the greater Boston area and have lived in Massachusetts my whole life. I graduated from Amherst College in 2019 with a B.A. in Statistics and Psychology. Since then, I have been working at BEDAC as a Statistical Programmer. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, refurbishing furniture, and listening to podcasts.
I was born in a happy Chinese family. My hometown is in Dongbei which is similar to Boston in latitude. I earned my BS in statistics from Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen. Apart from studying, I like to watch sports games and Arsenal is my favorite team. Also when I am free, I really enjoy shooting and editing videos.
I graduated from Boston University in 2021 with a Mathematics degree concentrating in Statistics. During my undergraduate education, I served as President of BU Analytics Club and worked for the BU Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Additionally, I was involved in numerous research projects on campus. By continuing my education at BU in the MS AB program, I hope to gain the experience and knowledge necessary for me to make an impact in the pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, I am interested in using statistical methods to improve clinical trial designs to contribute to the development of treatments for individuals suffering from various conditions. Outside the classroom, I am the MS Student Representative for the Student Senate at BU SPH. Additionally, I enjoy playing with my new puppy Milo and traveling.
I am from Southern California. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and subsequently worked as a Registered Nurse in Los Angeles. I then relocated to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and worked in critical care specializing in thoracic and cardiac surgery. Currently, I am employed at the Boston University General Clinical Research Unit where I work with research teams from across the University to implement clinical studies. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, hiking, pastry making, and exploring cuisines.
I am originally from China. I just graduated from Southwest University with a BS in pharmacy. This is my first time in the U.S. and I feel so
excited to be a part of the Applied Biostatistics program at BU. I love reading, hiking, and watching some vlogs in my spare time.
I am a student in the M.S. for the Applied Biostatistics program. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work on an initiative to accelerate the development and implementation of innovative COVID-19 diagnostic testing approaches at UMass Medical School. I was part of a team that oversaw the onboarding and monitoring of academic and practice-based research networks across the country. Prior to this, I graduated from UMass Lowell’s MPH program for Epidemiology. During my time there, I participated in authoring the Greater Lowell Health Needs Assessment 2019 for CHNA-10 and asthma intervention studies of low-income children and older adults living in Lowell. In the future, I hope to gain more experience in data analysis and programming and apply these skills within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology field.
I’m Haotian Zhang from Beijing, the capital of China. You can also call me Shion as you favor. I’m very happy to join the SPH community and study biostatistics with everyone. I like to play games whether on the computer or on the console. looking forward to being friends with you.
My name is Christina Ziogas, and I am in the MS Applied Biostatistics program at Boston University. I graduated with a Public Health degree at UMass Amherst, where I began to learn and became very intrigued by biostatistics. I decided to pursue this field, for I thought it was a great way to combine my statistical and computational interests with my interests in research data analysis. I hope to later work at a pharmaceutical company, however, I am still investigating where my interests lie as I continue to learn more throughout the program. I am looking forward to gaining a wider range of knowledge and experience in biostatistics and am excited to utilize the opportunities that this program has to offer!
