Dear Colleagues:

It is a joyful time here at the School of Public Health as we wrap up the year.

As we look back on 2018 and look ahead to 2019, we hope you will reflect on all that we have accomplished together here at SPH and find pride in being part of SPH’s global network committed to our mission: to improve the health of local, national, and international populations, particularly the disadvantaged, underserved, and vulnerable, through excellence and innovation in education, research, and service.

We celebrate you and our 1,200 students, 330 faculty, 250 staff, and nearly 10,000 alumni for generating knowledge, transferring that knowledge to the next generation, and translating that knowledge to key stakeholders and the general public. Thanks to our partners and the generosity of our community, 93 percent of our students received financial aid, and we awarded more than $9 million in scholarships last year.

Before the end of the year, we hope to see you at our upcoming Dean’s Symposium, Urban Health: State of the Science, on Thursday, December 6, and our Public Health Forum, The “Skinny” on Health Disparities among Asian Americans: Biological, Behavioral, and Social Determinants, on Wednesday, December 12.

Finally, in closing out the school’s end-of-year campaign, please consider making a gift in honor of a professor, staff member, student, or colleague who has played an integral role in improving the health of local, national, and international populations. Your gift can support student scholarships, cutting-edge research, innovative programs, and front-line fieldwork. You can make your gift online or visit our giving page for additional information.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.

Warmly,

Sandro
