  1. I became aware of Cyntoia’s tragic circumstance around 2012/13 and viewed the Independent Lens videos about her. I also read her 2014 appeal and wrote letters in her behalf. My understanding is that she became frightened of Johnny when he was showing her his guns. She told him she was very tired and asked if she could sleep for a bit. He said okay and she pretended to be asleep next to him on the bed. I suspect, though I never heard her say, that she was worried that he was going to kill her for being a prostitute. I don’t remember any mention of his being violent just the intimidation she felt when he showed her his guns. When she saw him reach under the bed, she assumed he was getting a gun to kill her. She used her own gun to stop him. She then had another serious worry that she couldn’t go home to “Cut Throat” without money and so robbed Jihnny’s wallet. I was surprised in reading her appeal if 2014 that the term human trafficking was never used but rather “forced prostitution” was mentioned once. Human Trafficking is as vile as life gets and perhaps the court was not aware enough of what she went through with Cut Throat owning her.

  2. Also, it was my understanding that Cyntoia was 13 when she ran away from home. Is there any hope of getting an earlier release for Cyntoia? Tennessee appears to have been very unaware of HT and viewed it as teenage bad behavior. They took away her life for being a victim and it sounds like it’s happening in Ohio as well.
