It seems to be one of my missions in life to point out that the monitoring method for NO2 is flawed and in fact measures a number of other nitrogen compounds such as nitric acid and acetyl peroxynitrate. The factor by which the monitoring NO2 can be off ranges from very little in areas close to sources when photochemistry is slow, to a factor of 4 under conditions of high photochemical pollution.
