Practitioners 

We are looking for professionals to join our community of practitioners to teach or mentor computing and data science students working on real-world projects for external partners. 

Teaching and mentoring schedules can be arranged around your hours. You’ll get to help shape the minds of future innovators and leaders!

We’re looking for the following

  • 5+ years of experience working in the software industry
  • Experience with any or all of Python, React, PostgreSQL, TensorFlow, Flutter, Flask, containerization and Kubernetes
  • Experience mentoring junior software developers
  • A strong interest in sharing industry experience with students
  • Passion for making social impact through computing and data sciences
  • For teaching opportunities, Masters and PhDs preferred but not required

Work closely with Spark! leadership staff to manage a series of projects including impact research, partner networking and outreach, email communication, and other projects as assigned.

Marketing & Communications Interns
Oversee a series of marketing and communications tasks in partnership with the Spark! Outreach & Communications Manager.

DevOps Intern (Software Engineering and Machine Learning)
The DevOps internship is part of the growing Spark! technical team working to build important systems and infrastructure to support our student community, team of faculty, and external partnerships. This position  will work directly with our Technical Director and Assistant Solutions engineer to build, deploy and maintain systems to support our cohort of projects. Interns will have the opportunity to work with containerization solutions (Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift etc), cloud hosting platforms (AWS, GCP etc) and other related technologies such as frontend and backend web development solutions. Required time commitment: 15 hours per week

Project Managers
Oversee a portfolio of projects, attend weekly meetings with your team and Spark! Staff advisor; provide supportive feedback to students, proactively manage partners to ensure client satisfaction with student work; collect and organize documented work at the end of project; and prepare for the following semester.
