Pamela Zabala Ortiz wins Aristide Zolberg Distinguished Student Scholar Award

Incoming assistant professor, and recent Duke University PhD graduate, Pamela Zabala Ortiz has won the 2024 Aristide Zolberg Distinguished Student Scholar Award. Through the ASA’s International Migration section, the award is given annually to an outstanding paper written by a graduate student member of the section published during the preceding two years. Pamela’s winning paper, “The social aftershocks of a migration crisis: racial threat and racial drift in the Dominican Republic” was published in Ethnic and Racial Studies in 2023. Big congrats!
