{"id":309,"date":"2024-12-05T11:48:06","date_gmt":"2024-12-05T16:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/?page_id=309"},"modified":"2026-06-25T09:46:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T13:46:19","slug":"sarp-prevention-interns","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/about-us\/get-involved\/sarp-prevention-interns\/","title":{"rendered":"SARP Prevention Interns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SARP Prevention Interns collaborate with SARP staff to facilitate prevention programming and evaluation, develop social media and marketing strategies, and curate prevention content and materials.<\/p>\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrolled in a BU graduate program<\/li>\n<li>Commit up to a minimum of 12 hours per week (no more than 20 hours)<\/li>\n<li>Must be available Mondays from 12-2 for group supervision and team meeting<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Support<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Intensive Orientation<\/li>\n<li>Weekly supervision<\/li>\n<li>Paired facilitation<\/li>\n<li>Peer support<\/li>\n<li>Professional development<\/li>\n<li>Competitive Compensation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be available in-person starting August 11th, 2026 (Including training)<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled in a graduate school full-time<\/li>\n<li>Ability to commit 12 hours\/ week<\/li>\n<li>Interest in sexual violence prevention<\/li>\n<li>Experience working and collaborating on a team<\/li>\n<li>Ability and skills to commit to one prevention intern specialization for the year (See descriptions below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Goals<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate Trainings and workshops that teach undergraduate students the skills to create a safer, violence-free campus.<\/li>\n<li>Create a space for professional development and goal setting for students in graduate degree programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>General Duties<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Available as backup facilitator for trainings: Bystander intervention, Consent (YES! Consent &amp; Sex Positivity), Healthy Relationships (This Dating Life), and Prevention as Student Leaders (Leading for Change)<\/li>\n<li>Data collection: Distribute and collect evaluations for each training session<\/li>\n<li>Anonymous feedback mechanisms to improve the PI experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Application Process<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Applications are closed for the 2026-2027 academic year. <!--<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/shs-program-assistant-application-ay-26-27\/\">Apply here.<\/a><\/li>\n\n-->\n<li>Email\u202f<a href=\"mailto:prevent@bu.edu\">prevent@bu.edu<\/a> if you have questions or concerns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/shs-program-assistant-application-ay-26-27\/\" class=\"button\">Apply Here<\/a>--><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Statement of Encouragement<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students of color, international students, students with disabilities, and\/or LGBTQ+ students are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<h3>Intern Specializations<\/h3>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Research and Data Analysis<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\n<\/strong>Review previous years&#8217; surveys, report findings, provide recommendations for training updates (e.g,. new scenarios), and new curriculum development<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analyze results from training evaluations weekly<\/li>\n<li>Create quarterly reports with suggestions for the\u00a0 application based on feedback from evaluations<\/li>\n<li>Research (as needed) different ways to apply feedback from evaluations<\/li>\n<li>Apply feedback from evaluations\n<ul>\n<li>E.g. design scenarios for curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Design and analyze evaluations for events and activities in collaboration with appropriate interns and supervisor<\/li>\n<li>Research and compile information for new curriculum, modules, and activities based on SARP\u2019s vision and goals for the year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Communications and Outreach<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design materials as needed for outreach activities, such as awareness-building around incidents.<\/li>\n<li>Create a quarterly newsletter<\/li>\n<li>Develop informational \u201chandouts\u201d\/one-pagers as needed for SARP training and services<\/li>\n<li>Develop four types of supplemental material to complement trainings and events (e.g., short videos, modules)<\/li>\n<li>Monthly consume and review sex-positive media like podcasts, books, and other media to promote learning\n<ul>\n<li>Ambassador support can be enlisted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Plan one annual awareness campaign to launch during SAAW<\/li>\n<li>Graduate and med campus-specific objectives:\n<ul>\n<li>All the above objectives<\/li>\n<li>Act as student rep for SARP by attending and engaging in monthly GSO meetings<\/li>\n<li>Present SOPs to graduate student groups as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Manage social media accounts: Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook,<br \/>\nCreate daily content for SARP social media (primarily Instagram) based on existing social media guidance<\/li>\n<li>Develop a monthly calendar for social media content using Facebook Creator Studio\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate the social media content creation team, including ambassadors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Promote advertisements for SARP events and activities as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Development &amp; Programs<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responsible for the overall day-to-day community organizing, networking, and mobilization of student ambassadors. Activities include:\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise, support, and provide student ambassadors as it relates to preventing interpersonal violence on campus<\/li>\n<li>Plan the ambassador tabling schedule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Make presentations and represent SARP\u2019s strategic vision at student activities, meetings, and collaborative university-based projects<\/li>\n<li>Train student ambassadors to deliver SARP\u2019s mission and strategic vision through tabling, events, and other outreach activities\n<ul>\n<li>Organize, plan, and co-facilitate weekly meetings for student ambassadors for the entire academic year<\/li>\n<li>Plan and facilitate retreat for student ambassadors to achieve the above goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Work to ensure that SARP services are understood and accessible to students, student groups, and departments on campus<\/li>\n<li>Develop strategic outreach plans and approaches; implement innovative ways to provide information and recruit students for leadership development, events, and other initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the ambassador program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SARP Prevention Interns collaborate with SARP staff to facilitate prevention programming and evaluation, develop social media and marketing strategies, and curate prevention content and materials.
