World Mental Health Day is a campus-wide event and public health program that lets our community know that we care about their mental health. The goals of World Mental Health Day at BU are to call attention to the importance of checking in on your mental health, to normalize mental health challenges, and remind the BU community of the many mental health resources available to students, staff, and faculty. No registration required. Open to all BU students, staff, and faculty.

Hosted by the BU Chief Health Office, Student Health Services, and Employee Wellness.

Both locations will offer:

FREE in-person screenings for depression and anxiety
  • Screenings are confidential and no insurance is required to participate — they are completely free of charge. Your information will not be shared with professors, coaches, employers, parents, or anyone else. The only time information would be shared is in a life-threatening emergency.
  • The screening takes only about two minutes to complete. After you complete the screening and get your results, you may choose to speak with someone who can empathetically listen and direct you to relevant resources at BU and beyond.
  • Can’t attend in person? You can also take a free, anonymous, mental health screening online. Take the Student Screening or take the Staff & Faculty Screening.
Build your own self-care kit
  • Choose from a number of soothing items to take home with you for free!
Resource fair
  • Learn about services and resources to support your mental health from SHS and departments across campus.
  • Learn how you can get involved in advocating for mental health with BU student groups. BIPOC Mental Health Collective and Let’s Talk About It will have tables at the GSU, and the Medical School Wellness Initiative will have a table at the Med Campus.
Activities
  • GSU: Take an affirmation for yourself, write an affirmation to leave for others
  • Med Campus: Stop by this station to decorate a rock with an illustration or message that spreads positivity, encouragement, and kindness for yourself, or to share with a friend or colleague. Hosted by Student Wellbeing.

Can’t attend in person? We encourage you to take a free, anonymous, online mental health screening at any time.
