Questions about Orders
How long will it take to receive my order?
We strive to fill and deliver each order as quickly as possible. Due to the volume of orders (Condom Fairy receives between 100-500 orders per week), and steps in the packing and delivery process, you can expect your order to arrive within 15 business days.
Before you receive your order, the following steps must be completed:
- Condom Fairy receives your order.
- The Condom Fairy team prints out and fills your order.
- BU Mail Services picks up your order.
- For on-campus orders, your order is sent to Residential Mail to be delivered.
- For off-campus orders, your order is given to USPS to deliver.
- Your package is delivered within 15 business days.
I never received my order. What happened?
We apologize that you never received your Condom Fairy order! Since we can’t track individual orders, we can’t be certain why specific orders were not delivered.
The most common reason orders are not delivered is an error in the mailing address. If the address is invalid, your order may be delayed or not delivered.
Common errors are:
- Listing your room number as your mailbox number. To find your on-campus mailbox number, you can contact the Housing office.
- Entering the incorrect address, including an incorrect: zip code, street suffix (e.g.: Terrace, Street, Way, etc.), and/or address spelling typos.
- Your off-campus mailbox is not marked with your name or the name on your mailbox does not match the name on your order (e.g.: you used a nickname or your initials for your order instead of your full name)
Please do the following when placing your next order:
- Make sure your address does not include any typos or errors
- Make sure you’re using the correct mailbox number
- Make sure that the name on your order matches the name on your mailbox (off-campus)
Why doesn’t Condom Fairy deliver outside of Massachusetts
Due to budget constraints, Condom Fairy cannot deliver outside of Massachusetts.
How can I get my order sooner?
If you need safer sex supplies sooner than the standard 15 business days, you can:
- Visit Student Health Services (881 Commonwealth Ave.). You can get free, discreet external condom packs during regular business hours. Ask a front desk staff member for a discreet bag of safer sex supplies.
- Place a Condom Fairy order for pick-up at Health Promotion & Prevention (930 Commonwealth Ave.). You will receive an email when your order is ready to be picked up (within 2-4 business days).
- Pick up safer sex supplies at the Center for Gender Sexuality & Activism (basement of George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave.). You can get free safer sex supplies at the front desk during the Center’s regular operating hours.
I made a mistake, can I change my order?
Due to the volume of orders Condom Fairy receives we cannot change individual orders.
Here’s a list of the most common order mistakes and what to do next:
- Incorrect address/delivery information
- If there is an error in the address, the order will not be delivered. Email cfairy@bu.edu to request the order be canceled, and submit a new order with the correct information.
- Wrong supplies
- If you ordered supplies you don’t want, email cfairy@bu.edu to request your order be canceled, and submit a new order.
- Forgot something
- If you forgot an additional supply, place an order with the desired item. Condom Fairy will fill both orders.
How often can I order from Condom Fairy?
There is no set limit on the amount or frequency of Condom Fairy orders you can request. However, please only order the supplies you need for yourself. Condom Fairy supplies are limited and Condom Fairy would like to send orders to all students who request safer sex supplies!
Questions about supplies
Why are informational materials included in every order?
Sharing accurate, affirming, and inclusive sexual health information is an important part of Condom Fairy. Condom Fairy believes that safer sex isn’t only about using safer sex supplies like condoms or oral dams. Safer sex also includes regular STI screenings, having open conversations about sexual health with any potential partners, and much more.
Condom Fairy materials are meant to share important sexual health information about topics like STI testing, consent, and how to use safer sex supplies, to help support safer sex at BU. Certain sexual health information is included in every order and other information changes throughout the year.
How much of each supply can I get?
Condom Fairy provides 3 to 5 units of each supply you order. A set amount of each supply helps ensure there are adequate supplies to distribute to all students who order from Condom Fairy. However, there is no set limit on the amount or frequency of Condom Fairy orders you can place. If you need additional supplies, please place another order.
Can I choose which flavors or styles of certain supplies that I order?
At the moment Condom Fairy doesn’t have the capacity to provide this level of specificity for orders. Condom Fairy receives between 100-500 orders per week. Customization is limited to help the Condom Fairy team pack and deliver orders as efficiently as possible.
Why do you only carry certain supplies?
Condom Fairy strives to carry a wide range of safer sex supplies that serve the needs of BU students. If there is a product you think Condom Fairy should offer, we would greatly appreciate it if you share that feedback in the Condom Fairy survey, released at the end of each semester.
Can you provide birth control or Plan B in my order?
The primary goal of Condom Fairy is to increase access to condoms and other safer sex supplies by removing potential cost, privacy, and embarrassment barriers.
In addition to Condom Fairy, Student Health Services (SHS) provides a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services to help support students’ sexual health, including:
- Birth control consultations and prescriptions
- Emergency contraception consultations, prescriptions, and collaborative support for the Plan B Vending Machine (basement of the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave.)
Other supplies such as emergency contraception, period products, and birth control, are outside the current capacity and scope of Condom Fairy.
