The best way to protect yourself and others against severe COVID-19 infections is to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, wear a mask in crowded, indoor spaces, and test if you are not feeling well. Boston University strongly recommends, and in some cases requires, students to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Boston University has a tiered vaccination policy.
- COVID-19 General Population Vaccination Policy: We strongly recommend that everyone remain up to date with all CDC COVID-19 vaccination recommendations.
- COVID-19 Clinical Population Vaccination Policy: All faculty, students, and staff who provide direct patient-facing healthcare will be required to provide documentation of a COVID-19 primary series and booster as part of their required immunizations in Patient Connect, or submit a religious or medical waiver.

If you are required to submit documentation and have lost your vaccination card and don’t have a copy:
- If you were vaccinated in Massachusetts, you can request a copy of your COVID-19 vaccination record.
- If you were vaccinated outside of Massachusetts, contact your vaccination provider directly or contact your state health department’s immunization information system (IIS).
