The Athletic Training Residency & Fellowship programs for Certified Athletic Trainers aim to provide educational and work experiences that prove to be beneficial for career development.

Boston University’s Athletic Training Services has highly motivated individuals grounded in evidence-based practice in the position of Resident & Fellow Athletic Trainer. The experience includes collaborative practice in an inter-professional environment with a varied patient population. The residency program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The Neurology fellowship will be seeking updated CAATE accreditation from a previously accredited Neurotrauma & Spine Residency.

    Responsibilities and duties of the appointment entail work hours per week not to exceed ACGME. Experiences may include, but are not limited to, opportunities within the varsity, club, and ROTC panels at Boston University; continuity clinics at Student Health Services seeing the student body population; continuity clinics at the Ryan Center for Sports Medicine seeing the general population; providing education and clinical supervision to athletic training students from CAATE-accredited professional athletic training programs or graduate assistants from Boston University; weekly clinical and mentorship hours; didactic and scholarship activities; and other duties as assigned by Athletic Training Services. The residency and fellowship are a minimum of 21 consecutive months and the programs begin in August.

    • Graduation from CAATE-accredited professional athletic training program
    • Post-professional master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred
    • 2 years of athletic training experience
    • BOC Certification
    • Commonwealth of Massachusetts license eligible
    • Current CPR certification
