Dr. Chai started his position at Boston University\/Boston Medical Center on Aug. 1, 2019.\u00a0 After finishing his urology residency training at University of Michigan Medical Center, he completed a laboratory based research fellowship at University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. He has received funding as the principal investigator numerous NIH awards including R01, U01 and P20 mechanisms during this time involving both basic and clinical research related to functional bladder conditions. In 2013, he received the Victor A. Politano Award from the American Urological Association for his research contributions in urinary incontinence. While his research has been related to benign bladder conditions, Dr. Chai has collaborated with investigators across multiple disciplines and understands that major advances require an ability to receptive to new ideas, perspectives and to work as a team to accomplish the mission at hand.\u00a0 A major portion of Dr. Chai\u2019s clinical practice relates to seeing patients with prostate cancer survivorship complications related to bladder dysfunction (such as urinary incontinence or voiding issues). \u00a0He understands that transformational changes in treatment of prostate cancer ultimately lie in understanding prostate cancer biology.\u00a0 Future interventions, including prevention efforts, will reduce the significant burden of prostate cancer in disease-specific survival and quality of life in survivors.<\/p>\n
