Denis, PhD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Denis\u2019s research lab at the BU-BMC Cancer Center has pioneered studies of the BET bromodomains proteins, a family comprised of BRD2, BRD3 and BRD4 in somatic cells, which are important as transcriptional co-regulators that control prostate and breast cancer progression. He is particularly concerned about rising rates of obesity and its associated metabolic diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes, which are inflammatory conditions that increase tumor progression in both androgen-independent prostate cancer and triple negative breast cancer. His lab investigates new small molecule approaches to block the relevant pathways and reduce risk of metastasis in patients with co-morbid obesity and diabetes.
