Federal regulations, however, specifically prohibit work of a political or religious nature, and jobs that require the student\u2019s affiliation or financial support.<\/p>\n<p>Available off-campus Work-Study positions include a variety of <a href=\"\/seo\/work-study\/finding-fws\/community\/\">community service and tutoring<\/a> opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Agencies that regularly hire Boston University students include local hospitals, museums, state and municipal organizations, environmental organizations, and after-school programs. Our Work-Study students have been employed off campus as research assistants, gallery attendants, accounting clerks, publicity assistants, translators, childcare assistants, legal assistants, and reading tutors. Agencies interested in hiring Work-Study students through this program should review our <a href=\"\/seo\/off-campus-employers\/off-campus-work-study\/\">Off-Campus Policies and Procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"alert\">\n  <span class=\"material-icons\">&#xe002;<\/span><strong> Because off-campus placement is limited, students are placed on a first come, first served basis. You may have only one off-campus Work-Study job at a time.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h5 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Finding and Securing an Off-Campus Job<\/h5><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p>Student Employment provides a <a href=\"https:\/\/bu.studentemployment.ngwebsolutions.com\/cmx_content.aspx?cpid=9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Work-Study Job Listings<\/a> which include jobs from off-campus nonprofit agencies that are currently seeking Boston University students.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have found a job that you are interested in, please <a href=\"\/seo\/off-campus-employers\/off-campus-work-study\/policies\/\">follow our overview<\/a> for establishing an Off-Campus Work-Study agency and general procedures. <strong>Before you make a commitment to any unlisted agency<\/strong>, you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must<\/span> discuss the potential placement with the Student Employment office, who will ensure that it meets Federal Work-Study regulations<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/seo\/students\/work-study\/finding-fws\/off-campus\/off-campus-work-study-opportunities\/\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"alert\">\n  <span class=\"material-icons\">&#xe002;<\/span><strong> Written approval from the Student Employment Office is required <strong>before<\/strong> you can begin working in any off-campus job.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>Your off-campus supervisor must complete all required paperwork and return it to the Off-Campus Payroll Coordinator.
