All of these required courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C.\u00a0Additionally, students must also complete all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/hub\/advising-and-the-hub\/hub-requirements-for-students\/\">BU Hub requirements<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/academics\/undergraduate-education\/academic-advising\/advising\/language-advising\/foreign-language-requirement\/\">CAS second language requirement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Education core requirements<\/h3>\n<p>Students majoring in Science Education complete a total of 28 credits through the BU Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, including Student-Teaching pre-practicum and practicum. The required courses are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>SED CT 534: A Practical Approach to Classroom Management (2 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>SED DS 502: Introduction to Adolescent Development (2 credits)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED SC 575: Introduction to Science Education (4 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED SE 510: Special Education (or SED SE 251) (2 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED TL 525: Teaching English Language Learners in Middle\/High Schools (4 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED SC 570: Science Teaching Methods I (4 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED SC 576: Science Teaching Pre-Practicum (2 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>SED SC 510: Student-Teaching Practicum: Science, 8-12 (or SED SC 509) (8 credits)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Students who participate in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/laprogram\">Learning Assistant program<\/a>\u00a0replace SED SC 575 with: SED ED 530: Fieldwork in education (2 credits) and SED SC 521: Introduction to STEM Education Theory and Practice (2 credits).<\/p>\n<h3>Specializations in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics<\/h3>\n<p>Every Science Education major must choose at least one specialization to complete: biology, chemistry, or physics. Each specialization has a set of required foundation courses, principal depth courses, and breadth (elective) requirements.
