As the Science Education community grows at Boston University, we look forward to offering our majors incredible opportunities for personal growth, service, experiential learning, and fun!

Learning Assistant Program

The Boston University Learning Assistant (LA) program got its start in three CAS science departments: Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Now, the LA program serves thousands of students each year, in courses across the university. Students in the Science Education program have the opportunity to get start teaching (in the LA program) as early as their second year at BU!

SMarT (Science Majors are Thriving) Workshops

These workshops, led by Professor Hartmann, are geared towards helping first-year students in their transition from high school to college. First-year students are encouraged to stop by these fun and informative sessions to gain valuable skills. Upper-level students: Prof. Hartmann is always looking for help at workshops and ideas for new ones!

Teaching Practicum

All Science Education majors will complete a semester long student-teaching practicum at one of our program’s partnering schools during their senior year. Paired with expert teaching practitioners, the pre-practicum and practicum training will propel you into your successful career!
