The\u00a0American Speech-Language-Hearing Association<\/a>‘s ASHFoundation<\/a> awarded funding\u00a0earlier this month\u00a0to\u00a0three Sargent College\u00a0Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences students\u00a0and two alumni. Awards included\u00a0prestigious research grants and\u00a0“Early years” scholarships. ASHFoundation funding allows “talented individuals to not only pursue immediate goals, but to continue to make a meaningful difference for years to come.”

\"erin-meier\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Erin Meier<\/strong>, a postgraduate student, was awarded the New Century Scholars Doctoral Scholarship for\u00a0her project “Structural and Effective Connectivity of Reorganized Language Networks in Aphasia.”\u00a0The <\/span>New Century Scholars Research Grant<\/a> supports innovative investigations by individuals who are committed to teacher-investigator careers in the university or college academic environment or in external research institutes or laboratories.
<\/span><\/p>\n

\"sabrina-horvath\"<\/a>Sabrina Horvath<\/strong>, a postgraduate student, was awarded the Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language<\/a> – supported in part by Arlene and Noel Matkin Memorial Fund – for her project “Verb Learning Mechanisms in Late-to-Talk Two-Year Olds.”\u00a0Doctoral students in communication sciences and disorders desiring to conduct research in early childhood language development are eligible to compete for this grant\u00a0for a proposed 1-year study.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


Rachael Campbell<\/strong>, a graduate student, was awarded the\u00a0ASHFoundation Graduate Scholarship<\/a>.\u00a0This scholarship\u00a0recognizes masters or doctoral students in communication sciences and disorders who demonstrate academic achievement and promise. Four endowed scholarships give special priority to disability, international, minority, and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association member\u00a0students.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"karen-chenausky\"<\/a>Karen Chenausky<\/strong>, a recent BU alumna, received the ASHA Foundation Clinical Research Grant<\/a> for\u00a0her project “Identifying Signs of Childhood Apraxia of Speech in Minimally Verbal Children with Autism.”\u00a0The grant\u00a0supports scientists with a research doctorate within the discipline of communication sciences and disorders to support investigations that will advance knowledge of the efficacy of treatment and assessment practices.\u00a0She currently works in the Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"teresa-gray\"<\/a>Teresa Gray<\/strong>, a recent BU alumna, received the New Investigators Research Grant<\/a> for her project “Bilingual aphasia: the intersection between lexical access and control mechanisms.” She currently works at San Francisco State University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
