{"id":45542,"date":"2016-09-02T11:41:21","date_gmt":"2016-09-02T15:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/?p=45542"},"modified":"2016-09-02T11:43:21","modified_gmt":"2016-09-02T15:43:21","slug":"new-voice-disorders-clinic-starting-this-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/new-voice-disorders-clinic-starting-this-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"New Voice Disorders Clinic \u2013 Starting This Fall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting September 2016, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/clinical-practice\/clinical-education-centers\/speech-language-hearing-center\/\">Boston University Academic Speech, Language, &amp; Hearing Center <\/a>will begin its new voice disorders clinic.<\/p>\n<h3>Services<\/h3>\n<p>Services include a comprehensive evaluation of laryngeal (voice box) function, including acoustic and aerodynamic testing and assessment of motor abilities. Clients will receive a detailed evaluation report and treatment recommendations. Voice therapy will focus on comprehensive treatment of a wide range of voice and upper airway disorders\/conditions, tailored to each individual client.<\/p>\n<p>Clients must already have a formal diagnosis by an otolaryngologist or ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physician consisting of one of the following to qualify:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>vocal cord\/fold lesions (ex. nodules, polyps, cysts)<\/li>\n<li>vocal cord\/fold paresis<\/li>\n<li>laryngeal edema (ex.
