Why did you choose Sargent and BU? <\/strong><\/em>Originally from Chicago, I knew I wanted to attend a college in an urban environment surrounded by a myriad of diversity, opportunity, and ultimately somewhere I could call home. I knew I wanted to pursue my passion in healthcare and Sargent’s physical therapy program felt like the perfect fit for me. The tight-knit community Sargent College offers, the drive living in every student and professor to improve healthcare, and the extraordinary preparation professors strive to provide for their students ultimately led me to choose Sargent College. BU has allowed me to explore my other interests in mental health as well as living an active lifestyle through BU Running Club. The transition to college can be daunting, however, the relationships I have formed at BU have confirmed my choice to pursue a degree in physical therapy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Why did you choose Sargent and BU?<\/strong><\/em> While attending a prospective student event at BU during high school, I was overwhelmed by the university\u2019s large student body, yet its location and emphasis on exploration enticed me. I continued to attend webinar sessions where I found Sargent students who shared my desire for an action-oriented and collaborative environment. Sargent College provides me with the tight-knit community that I feared losing after high school while still ensuring the advantages of an urban school in the city of Boston.

Why did you choose Sargent and BU?<\/em> Sargent is a close-knit, inclusive community that gives me a sense of individuality even with Boston University being a large school. My friends in Sargent always back my career ambitions, and I have never met a more supportive, understanding faculty and staff. Sargent\u2019s Gross Anatomy class is an undergraduate course that gives us the unique opportunity to work hands-on with cadavers in the lab section. I love this opportunity because I want to pursue a career as a medical examiner.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Why did you choose Sargent and BU? <\/strong><\/em>When I attended the open house events at Sargent and BU, I knew that the welcoming and supportive community was one I wanted to become part of. Moving across the country from Portland, Oregon was a big adjustment, but with the help of the incredible Sargent faculty, professors, and students, I quickly found my place within the community. Sargent offers a wide range of unique courses, research opportunities, and clinical experience that has been invaluable for me as a pre-medical student. Sargent and BU have not only prepared me for a career as a future health professional but also strengthened my global citizenship and desire to reduce health disparities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Why did you choose Sargent and BU?<\/b><\/em>I’m one of Sargent College’s many transfer students, having joined the second semester my freshman year from the College of Arts and Sciences. I chose Sargent to pursue my interest in healthcare, as Sargent College classes focus more on health sciences than bench sciences. Sargent College also builds towards BU’s focus on practical experience and should help me pursue my eventual graduate goals.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Why did you choose Sargent and BU? <\/b><\/em>I chose Sargent because although high school me would not have ever imagined attending college in Boston, I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare. I had spent my whole life in Richmond, California, a city challenged by public health issues, so I’ve always aimed to combat challenges that affect the social determinants of health. Since stepping foot on BU’s campus, I’ve known I’ve made the right choice that is getting me closer to my career goals. Along this education journey, I have found my communities here and within Sargent, which is why I appreciate my decision to attend Sargent College and Boston University.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am also very passionate about research and Sargent has an amazing variety of labs. I also always knew I wanted to go to university in a city and Boston was a place that always felt like home to me. The faculty at Sargent are incredible and are so passionate about their professional and academic fields, overall they want all of their students to thrive.<\/span><\/p>\n

I specifically chose Sargent because of its strong reputation in Health Science and because of the 4+1 program for Master\u2019s of Public Health. Sargent\u2019s emphasis on experiential learning, internships, and a close-knit community of students and faculty resonated with me. The program aligns with my future goals of working in Public Health and working with professors and like-minded students who want to improve the world around us. Sargent was such a unique and special program that I felt immediately connected to and interested in pursuit of my passions and future career. I was enticed by the small, but strong community and passionate students with endless opportunities to grow and thrive. With my interest in pre-med, and the uniqueness of the classes and labs offered at Sargent, it felt like the right choice. With an incredible support system of advisors and faculty members, there\u2019s always someone to confide in.\u00a0 Sargent has also allowed other opportunities to explore outside my comfort zone, and pursue new interests in public health leading me to decide to pursue a degree in Health Sciences. At Sargent, there’s a place for everyone, and we welcome everyone with open arms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you choose Sargent and BU? <\/strong><\/em>Boston University felt like the place for me as soon as I stepped foot on campus, as the academics, research opportunities, and proximity to the great city of Boston persuaded me to apply. Coming from a small town in rural Kentucky though, I was looking for a close-knit community within a bigger campus that could remind me of home. Sargent College is that community. Within the Accelerated BS\/DPT Program, I truly have developed some of the closest relationships amongst my cohort. Additionally, the classes, faculty members, and advisors provide a well-rounded education that encourages authenticity and fuels passion. Sargent does an astounding job of welcoming in all with a warm embrace and ensuring that everyone is included, supported, and advocated for.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve grown to appreciate Sargent College because of the opportunities it has thrown at me and all the different people I\u2019ve met. Among faculty, advisors, and now friends in my PT cohort, I know I always have someone to talk to about both my academic and personal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

My favorite part about Sargent is how I am able to achieve a\u00a0 tight-knit community feel with small class sizes, prioritized advising, and strong classmate relationships, while still having a large university experience. Boston University\u2019s support system runs as deep as its pride, and I am grateful that I can call myself a Sargent terrier!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming to BU I didn\u2019t know much about Sargent, but after speaking to faculty and other students I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I am very glad I came to Sargent and love the friends I have made along the way as well as how helpful the faculty has been to me. Being in Sargent I have found the academics to be both challenging and rewarding. Sargent has given me amazing friendships with my peers, who have not only helped me academically but have become a strong support system in my personal life as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am on the pre-medical track hoping to become a physician, so when I saw the Human Physiology major and the classes offered in it, I was immediately drawn to Sargent. Being a Sargent student for two years so far has allowed me to appreciate the small size of Sargent within BU, with the school having individuals that are motivated to help within healthcare. BU itself has many resources for each and every student here and this was a big factor of me choosing Boston University as my school. <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Seeing BU for the first time and being surrounded by people who are truly committed, passionate, and excited about where they are at in their journey, made choosing BU and Sargent the easiest decision. Sargent and BU both commit to equality and inclusivity, have incredible staff and I knew that was the place I wanted to be.
