You\u2019ll need an understanding of people, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and a desire to apply your knowledge in real-life situations.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><span>At Boston University, OT academic coursework and fieldwork are integrated into a curriculum that\u2019s occupation-focused, evidence-based, client-centered, and organized from a life-course perspective. You\u2019ll study the concepts, theory, and practice of occupational therapy with professors and practitioners who are recognized in national and international communities.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><span>Beginning in your first semester and throughout the three-year entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy curriculum, you\u2019ll gain a wide range of clinical experience through <\/span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/academics\/departments-programs\/occupational-therapy\/entryotd\/fieldwork\/\">Level I<\/a><\/span><span> and <\/span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/academics\/departments-programs\/occupational-therapy\/entryotd\/fieldwork\/liifw\/\">Level II Fieldwork<\/a><\/span><span> placements from BU\u2019s large network of local and national clinical sites. You\u2019ll also complete a 14-week doctoral practicum and a project focused on your professional interests in one of these areas: advanced clinical practice, program development and evaluation, research, policy and advocacy, or education.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><span>Throughout the program, you\u2019ll have close interaction and personal attention from our faculty. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). All states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
