No additional application or information is required to be considered for a merit scholarship. Recipients of these awards will be notified within their admission letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Federal Aid<\/h2>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>Federal aid is a key source of funding for graduate students, and you may be eligible for several types of assistance. Many graduate students receive support through Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans and\/or Federal Graduate PLUS Loans. <strong>Please note that Federal Graduate PLUS Loans are scheduled to be discontinued as of July 1, 2026; however, students who are already participating in the program may be eligible to continue receiving these loans under a grandfathering provision. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/sargent\/admissions\/graduate\/financial-aid\/how-to-apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply for Financial Aid<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Additionally, a limited amount of federal work-study funding is available for graduate students who demonstrate financial need, as determined by the FAFSA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Student Employment<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On-campus employment can help offset the cost of your education. A limited number of teaching\/research assistantships and graduate assistantships are available for select graduate programs. These awards are typically awarded at the time of admission, though some opportunities become available after students enroll. Assistantships are often paid as salary, and amounts vary with the number of hours employed and type of service performed. For more information on assistantship opportunities, contact your program of interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Graduate resident assistantships are available in housing facilities at Boston University. Compensation usually includes your room and may include meals and living expenses. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reslife\/join-our-team\/ra-selection-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn more about these positions<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, many departments on campus hire graduate students as part-time employees.
