To the Sargent College Class of 2020…
Sargent faculty and staff share their congratulations in this “senior send-off” produced by Sargent College Student Government.
Best Wishes from the Academic Services Center
Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with many of you and there are certain traits we have observed that are common to all of you. You are resilient. You are resourceful. You are extremely intelligent. You are intentional. You are reliable. You are compassionate. You are service-oriented and you deeply care about what you do and the quality of relationships you foster. And no matter whether you celebrate today or three months from now, the experiences you have sought out to put those qualities into practice form the foundation you walk on and the inspiration you live by.

From the Class of 2019…
“Never get tired of doing little things for others. Sometimes those little things occupy the biggest part of their lives.” – Unknown
This quote was selected by the Class of 2019 to display on the plaque gifted to the Class of 2020 at their first-year Rose Banquet.

From the Class of 1970…
Fifty years ago, the BU Class of 1970 also found themselves living in unprecedented times after shootings at Kent State University. Civil unrest led to a canceled commencement, disappointed students, and unsettling circumstances. Sargent graduates of 1970 were asked to share their messages of empathy and hope with the Class of 2020. We included some of their notes below.
“Congratulations to the 2020 Sargent graduates!!! This should be an exciting time for you, but not in this way. I feel complete empathy for what you and your families are experiencing right now. I look forward to you being able to return to campus when this is over for all of us to celebrate your accomplishments and successes over your Sargent career.” – Sharon Ryan, Boston University Trustee (Sargent ’70)
“You have the benefit of a world class education that is going to serve you well in your career endeavors. Sargent grads are resilient! Sargent grads are well prepared! Sargent grads are adaptable! The events of March, April, and May do not define you….they are only hurdles in your professional journey.” – Andrea Anastasio Cayer (Sargent ’70)
