Fundamentals of Equity in Graduate Admissions Workshop

  • Starts: 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022
  • Ends: 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022
Boston University is proud to partner with the Equity in Graduate Education Consortium, a collaborative that brings together participating universities, graduate programs, and leaders to align policies and practices with commitments to equity and inclusion. As a consortium member, BU faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to participate in a virtual workshop on equity in graduate admissions. Attendees will also include individuals from our partner school, the University of Southern California. In this workshop session, participants will learn about the role typical admissions practices play in perpetuating racial/ethnic inequalities in graduate education and receive strategies for helping achieve more equitable processes and outcomes. Participants will come away with tools – including evaluation rubrics and tips for ensuring attention to equity throughout the admissions process – to support implementation of holistic admissions to their programs. First presented in 2021, this workshop is being brought back by popular demand and with updated content and will be led by two national experts: Dr. Julie Posselt, associate dean of the Graduate School at the University of Southern California, associate professor of higher education in the Rossier School of Education at University of Southern California, and author of Inside Graduate Admissions: Merit, Diversity, and Faculty Gatekeeping Casey Miller, associate dean for research and faculty affairs and professor in the College of Science at Rochester Institute of Technology Please register no later than Friday, September 30, using your BU email address in order to receive a private Zoom registration link.
