However, being in a big city with an open campus, we must address issues of crime, crime prevention, and personal safety directly. Ensuring the safety of our BU community is our paramount concern.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>I became BU\u2019s chief of police in May 2017, following a 33-year career with the Boston Police Department.\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p>As the University\u2019s vice president for safety, security &amp; preparedness, I oversee the departments of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/em\/\">Emergency Management,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/police\/\">Police<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/publicsafety\">Public Safety<\/a>. In this role, I work closely with campus stakeholders and external partners to ensure the most secure and supportive environment possible for our community.\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p>I have the privilege of leading this department, which encompasses all safety and preparedness issues at BU and supports BU\u2019s dedication to the safety, security, and well-being of every member of our community. Student safety has always been my top priority, along with the well-being of those who work, teach, and visit our campus.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you find the information on this website helpful.
