His publications include a critical first edition of\u00a0<em>Rosal\u00eda<\/em>, a lost novel by Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s (C\u00e1tedra, 1983, 1984); an edition of Gald\u00f3s\u2019s\u00a0<em>Cuentos fant\u00e1sticos<\/em> (C\u00e1tedra, 1996);\u00a0<em>Los relatos inveros\u00edmiles de Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s en el contexto de su obra<\/em> (Anthropos, 1992), a study of Gald\u00f3s\u2019 fantastic short stories;\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.catedra.com\/libro.php?obrcod=855163\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Gald\u00f3s y la imaginaci\u00f3n mitol\u00f3gica<\/em><\/a>, (C\u00e1tedra, 2005); a facsimile edition, with an epilogue, of the first edition of C\u00e9sar Vallejo\u2019s <em>Espa\u00f1a, aparta de m\u00ed este c\u00e1liz<\/em><strong>,<\/strong> (\u00c1rdora, 2012), and his most recent book, a co-edition of the letters of Benito P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s <em>(<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.catedra.com\/libro.php?codigo_comercial=125045\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Correspondencia<\/a><\/em><strong>,<\/strong> Madrid, C\u00e1tedra, 2016).<\/p>\n<p>His poetry has been anthologized in <em>Poetas sin fronteras<\/em> (Madrid: Verbum 2000) and\u00a0<em>Sabia savia<\/em> (Segovia: Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo Esteban Vicente, 2006), and has appeared in various magazines world-wide, including\u00a0<em>\u00cdnsula <\/em>(Madrid),\u00a0<em>Anthropos<\/em> (Barcelona), <em>International Poetry Review<\/em> (Greensboro, North Carolina),\u00a0<em>Abril <\/em>(Luxembourg),\u00a0<em>Am\u00e9n<\/em> (Madrid),\u00a0<em>Plaza<\/em> (Cambridge), and the on-line poetry journal,\u00a0<em>Lunas Rojas,<\/em>based in Valencia. His book of poems,\u00a0<em>Fragmentos de alcanc\u00eda<\/em>, was published in 1998, with the support of the Consulate of Spain in Boston. His second book of poetry, <em>Libro del lago<\/em> was published in Madrid, in 2014 by \u00c1rdora Ediciones. His translation into Spanish of Robert Creeley\u2019s\u00a0<em>Life and Death <\/em>appeared under the title of\u00a0<em>Vida y muerte <\/em>(Madrid: \u00c1rdora) in 2000. He was guest editor and translator of\u00a0<em>Spain\u2019s Poetry of Conscience,<\/em> a special issue of\u00a0<em>International Poetry Review<\/em> (Spring, 2006).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Smith has received a Fulbright Scholarship and a Whiting Fellowship. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Asociaci\u00f3n Internacional de Galdosistas from 2002 -2006 and edited its associated journal, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/macalester.edu\/analesgaldosianos\"><em>Anales Galdosianos<\/em><\/a>, for many years. He has also served on the editorial boards of <em>Decimon\u00f3nica<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Isidora<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Selected Publications<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"authors\">Smith AE.
