Her most recent book,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Reconstructing-Woman-Fiction-Reality-Nineteenth-Century\/dp\/0271032677\/ref=sr_1_2\/105-5065638-9380406?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1189352100&amp;sr=8-2\"><i><span>Reconstructing Woman<\/span><\/i><\/a><span>, examines the nineteenth-century literary theme of the construction of an artificial woman. Her other publications include\u00a0the books <i>Telling Glances: Voyeurism in the French Novel<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>Fictional Genders: Role and Representation in Nineteenth-Century French Narrative<\/i>. Selected recent articles and book chapters include essays on Hugo\u2019s <i>Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/i>, Balzac\u2019s <i>La Cousine Bette, <\/i>Baudelaire\u2019s \u201c\u00c0 Celle qui est trop gaie,\u201d and an essay on Zola in \u201cExperimenting on Women\u201d in\u00a0<i>Spectacles of Realism: Gender, Body, Genre,<\/i>\u00a0edited by Christopher Prendergast and Margaret Cohen.
