{"id":75,"date":"2008-06-21T11:48:20","date_gmt":"2008-06-21T15:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/riscs\/?p=75"},"modified":"2017-04-07T10:00:30","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T14:00:30","slug":"security-meeting-june-21st-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/riscs\/2008\/06\/21\/security-meeting-june-21st-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"Security Meeting, June 21st, 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We would like to invite you to a security meeting that will be of general interest to anyone in the IT community, especially those in the metro Boston area and more so for those that like free software, networking opportunities and go-kart racing!<\/p>\n<p>My group, the <strong>National Information Security Group<\/strong> (NAISG, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naisg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">naisg.org<\/a>) is combining the June meeting of our New England chapter with our annual charity fundraiser for a totally different kind of event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A&gt; Presentation<\/strong>&#8230; Mike Rothman, the well-known author of The Pragmatic CSO (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pragmaticcso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">pragmaticcso.com<\/a>) and The Daily Incite (now merged with <a href=\"https:\/\/securosis.com\/\">securosis.com<\/a>), will present &#8220;<strong>An Evening with the Pragmatic CSO<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0 This will not be about technology; it will be about being an effective security administrator, manager or executive.\u00a0\u00a0 Regardless of whether you are a CSO or an administrator, you need to communicate what you are going to do within the context of your business and track your effectiveness. The methodology also addresses getting budgetary approval, interfacing with auditors, and just figuring out what it&#8217;s going to take to be a premier security practitioner.
