The first steps, however, are to create and demonstrate the ability to extract and recognize “useful” patterns using existing machine learning techniques.

Other Funding
Jonathan Appavoo, NSF CAREER: Programmable Smart Machines

<h5 class="bu_collapsible" aria-expanded="false"tabindex="0" role="button">Related Publications

https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/2485732.2485749https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/2541940.2541985

https://www.seltzer.com/assets/publications/Programmable-Smart-Machines-A-Hybrid-Neuromorphic-approach-to-General-Purpose-Computation.pdf

https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3342195.3392698

Check out more about this project on the Red Hat Research website.

BU faculty member: Jonathan Appavoo Despite decades of research computer systems are no more “intelligent” today than they were when they were first constructed. That is to say they do not systematically incorporate the ability to exploit their past to improve their current or future operation. In this speculative work we are attempting to […]
