{"id":2386,"date":"2022-01-26T14:42:37","date_gmt":"2022-01-26T19:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/?page_id=2386"},"modified":"2024-11-14T13:58:40","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T18:58:40","slug":"student-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/get-involved\/student-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have an interesting research idea?\u00a0 Want to work in the Mass Open Cloud?\u00a0 Exploring internships with the Red Hat Collaboratory?\u00a0 There are many opportunities available to Boston University students looking to get involved with the Collaboratory:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Attend an <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/events\/\"><b>event<\/b><\/a><b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Collaboratory\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/events\/colloquium-series\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colloquium Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> typically features talks from leaders in higher education and\/or industry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/events\/bu-systems-bu%e2%99%bas-seminar\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BU Systems Seminar (BU\u267aS) Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, typically held weekly during the academic year, brings together systems faculty, researchers, and Red Hatters to dive into research topics.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.redhat.com\/research-talks\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red Hat Research Days<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regularly feature Collaboratory researchers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/get-involved\/student-opportunities\/student-research-project-application\/\">Pitch a Research Idea<\/a>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Collaboratory may be able to provide funding and\/or mentoring support for a student or a group of students to conduct research on a topic that aligns with the Collaboratory\u2019s research areas of focus.\u00a0 The research may be associated with an existing project, or it may be new independent work.\u00a0 In either case, students are encouraged to identify a BU researcher or Red Hat engineer willing to mentor the research before submitting a proposal.\u00a0 Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/rhcollab\/get-involved\/student-opportunities\/student-research-project-application\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click here for information on how to submit a project application for consideration.\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Apply for a Development and Operations Internship. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The Red Hat Collaboratory is associated with several existing projects and programs &#8211; the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/massopen.cloud\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mass Open Cloud (MOC),<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research.redhat.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red Hat Research Team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nerc.mghpcc.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New England Research Cloud (NERC)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and more.
