Order PPE & Supplies for Research and Clinical Needs by May 15

TO:Charles River Campus Faculty PIs, Directors of University-wide Centers, and Directors of Clinical Centers
FROM:Gloria Waters, Vice President and Associate Provost for Research
DATE:May 8, 2020
SUBJECT:Order PPE & Supplies for Research and Clinical Needs by May 15

This week we began planning for the phased resumption of on-campus research and in-person healthcare services at Boston University, when public health advisories allow. As part of the detailed planning required for this ramp-up, many of you are thinking about the personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies you will need to restart operations in your labs, centers, and clinics.

Given the significant disruption and uncertainty in our supply chain, Sourcing & Procurement will be coordinating an initial bulk purchase of PPE and cleaning supplies for research labs and clinical needs. At this time we are recommending that labs purchase sufficient supplies for the next 2-3 months.

Please email your order to covidppe@bu.edu by Friday, May 15. Again, this order is for research and clinical needs only. Costs will be incurred by the unit that orders the supplies (e.g., lab, center, clinic).

If you have any questions about the appropriate PPE required for various situations, please contact Environmental Health & Safety at OEHS@bu.edu or 617-358-7840. For questions related to your supply order, you can reach out to Sourcing & Procurement. You can also find FAQs about research recovery planning on the Research Support website.
