This initiative is designed to help faculty move promising ideas closer to real-world application through targeted funding, expert mentorship, and structured support.<\/p>\n<p>The Ignition Awards are now part of the newly formed Faculty Entrepreneurship initiative within Technology Development. Led by Melinda Shockley, the executive director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/research\/collaboration-partnership\/otd\/start-a-company\/\">Faculty Entrepreneurship<\/a>, the program is evolving to provide a more personalized and comprehensive experience for faculty innovators across disciplines and stages of the innovation cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Selected faculty-led teams receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coaching from a dedicated advisory committee with industry experts<\/li>\n<li>Advice on technical development milestones and business milestones<\/li>\n<li>Guidance to discover market fit and potential societal impact<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to access a growing network of entrepreneurial peers and partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Innovation does not follow a single path.
