Creating new biological systems from molecular and cellular "parts"

Researchers at Boston University are building biological systems—from biomolecules to cells, tissues, organs and even multi-organ systems—to understand how they function. The engineering rules we are establishing are, in turn, enabling the creation of living systems that perform new functions not found in nature that will revolutionize human health, energy, and the environment.
