Finding Funding in Clinical Effectiveness Research: Meet the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) (2023)

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), in partnership with the Office of Research, the Federal Relations office, and Foundation Relations, will present a workshop to help acquaint BU researchers with PCORI’s mission, funding priorities, programs, and grant application process.

PCORI is an independent, nonprofit research organization that funds comparative clinical effectiveness research in the US, with a focus on the assessment of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options. Its leading commitments are to engagement of stakeholders, dissemination and implementation of research results, and investments in the nation’s health research infrastructure. PCORI issues funding announcements several times each year. The average of all grants awarded since 2012 is about $1.7 million.

Workshop participants will:

  1. Learn about PCORI’s mission, priorities, grant programs, application cycles, and evaluation processes
  2. Learn how to develop a compelling PCORI application
  3. Learn how PCORI engages with applicants and builds relationships with grantees
