Back2BU Research: Personnel Lists and Visitor Policies

Since May 2020, faculty PIs have been required to maintain personnel lists for their research groups and submit updates on a rolling basis to the Office of Research to help us monitor research personnel on campus. As of Thursday, September 2 (BU’s vaccination deadline), you will no longer be required to submit personnel lists to the Office of Research. All faculty, staff, students, and visiting researchers regularly working on campus are required to have uploaded vaccination documentation to the Healthway portal by this date. They must be assigned to the appropriate testing category and comply with testing and attestation requirements.

As visiting researchers join your lab going forward, including visiting students and visiting faculty or research scholars, you are responsible for ensuring they are compliant with BU health and safety protocols, including regular COVID-19 testing and the vaccination requirement. Short-term visitors, including research subjects, vendors, or technicians who are on campus briefly, are now simply required to follow BU mask-wearing requirements, as well as municipal, state, and federal regulations. As Provost Morrison and Gary Nicksa shared in their August memo, the more restrictive visitor policy instituted last year is no longer in effect.

If you have recurring research-related visitors who do not fit into either of these categories, please contact the Office of Research at research@bu.edu as soon as possible to ensure your visitors are in compliance with campus safety policies.
