Professor Anthony Petro Named National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Teaching Professor

BU Religion Professor Anthony Petro will be the next NEH Teaching Professor at Boston University.

According to an email from CAS Dean Sclaroff, “[t]his appointment enables each incumbent to launch a significant new Humanities educational initiative in CAS and the Core Curriculum. In the past these have included a summer study program in Athens, Greece; a program of informal study of world languages for the BU community called “Globally Speaking;” and most recently a BU Public Humanities Undergraduate Fellows Program.”

“Professor Petro will teach in the Core Curriculum Program and will also launch a series of innovative and ambitious programs focused on the theme of Health Humanities with regard to internships, curriculum, research and events. These programs have the potential, not only to unite the arts and sciences in CAS, but to involve the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Services, the Medical School, and the School of Public Health.”

Congrats, Professor!
