{"id":542,"date":"2014-08-05T16:28:22","date_gmt":"2014-08-05T20:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/?page_id=542"},"modified":"2025-07-30T08:45:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T12:45:29","slug":"awards-and-achievements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/graduation\/awards-and-achievements\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards and Achievements"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Latin Honors<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Among graduating seniors in each school or college, Latin Honors are awarded to the top 30% of the class as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Summa Cum Laude<span style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Top 5%<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Magna Cum Laude<span style=\"padding-left: 28px;\">Next 10%<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cum Laude<span style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">Next 15%<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Each academic year, the \u201cbreak points\u201d (GPA ranges corresponding to each of the honors categories) are determined individually for each school or college based on the total cumulative GPA of all coursework, including the final semester of grades.
