Manuel Carvajal chose Questrom\u2019s OMBA for three reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFirst, the Boston University name carries real academic weight\u2014globally and inside the military. I wanted a program where the quality of the education matched the reputation behind it, and BU delivered both. Second, the module-based structure instantly stood out to me. Instead of juggling multiple classes, each module let me focus deeply on one combined subject at a time. It felt more aligned with real-world problem-solving, especially coming from the Air Force, where you fully dive into one mission set before shifting to another. And third, the value was unbeatable. For the caliber of instruction, the global network, and the flexibility, no other program came close. It really is an elite MBA experience packaged in a way that working professionals, especially active-duty military, can actually manage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manuel\u2019s goal going into the OMBA program was to strengthen his ability to lead teams and build a modern, cross-functional business skillset that he could apply directly to his work in the military. Not only did the program help him achieve those goals, but also it pushed him further than expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI found myself applying lessons from strategy, operations, and innovation immediately to my day-to-day role. The Double Diamond+ design framework, team reflection cycles, and real-world case work all helped me become a more intentional leader and a more analytical problem solver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the biggest surprise for Maneul was how valuable the program\u2019s team-based structure was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I learned how to collaborate across time zones, leverage different professional experiences in problem-solving, and build solutions that reflect diverse perspectives. During his education, Manuel deployed to Laos, traveled constantly for military assignments, and still made it to every live session and team meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The impact of Manuel\u2019s education was immediate. Shortly after finishing his degree, he moved to northern Italy, just outside Venice, and stepped into a new role as the Section Chief of Logistics and Resources for the 31st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight at Aviano Air Base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
