With a bachelor\u2019s degree focused on engineering and construction management and extensive internship experience in the field, Kevin Wildish could have skipped graduate school and gone straight to work. But before he launched his career in construction management, he knew it would be worth it to invest in broadening his knowledge of the business world. Questrom\u2019s Master in Management (MiM) degree program offered just what he needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe MiM faculty and classes are giving me a distinct opportunity\u2014with the team projects and variety of courses covering all topics related to business\u2014to really round-out my knowledge,\u201d Kevin says. \u201cAnd the way classes are run here, focused on group discussion instead of lectures and straight content, has been very enjoyable for me.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin says what he\u2019s learned from his professors has been eye-opening, particularly learning how to leverage his past experiences to tackle large problems analytically and systematically. \u201cThe more you put into the program\u2014talking with professors about anything outside of the classroom, for example\u2014the more you will get out of it, the more knowledge and resources you\u2019ll gain and connections you\u2019ll form.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his outstanding professors, Kevin\u2019s favorite part of the MiM program has been the hands-on team projects he\u2019s worked on every eight weeks for real corporate clients. He particularly enjoyed the one at Bank of America, where he and his team studied how the bank could better advertise its small business retirement planning service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRunning the weekly meetings was an extraordinary experience that taught me how to facilitate and lead a meeting in a highly professional environment,\u201d he says. \u201cAlso, Bank of America really listened to us and respected and appreciated our work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an undergraduate at East Carolina University, Kevin interned as a field engineer, project engineer, and plants\/equipment coordinator in New Jersey and Washington, DC. The general contracting firm he worked for in DC  specializes in government projects, which gave Kevin the opportunity to work on two military bases on “For Official Use Only” restricted projects. It\u2019s the type of work he plans to pursue when he graduates. With his new foundation in business leadership and problem solving, he knows he\u2019ll have an advantage in the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
