{"id":3500,"date":"2024-03-11T10:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/questrom\/?p=3500"},"modified":"2024-07-25T12:47:10","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T16:47:10","slug":"mba-students-team-up-to-consult-mission-driven-dog-treat-shop-mv-barkery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/questrom\/blog\/mba-students-team-up-to-consult-mission-driven-dog-treat-shop-mv-barkery\/","title":{"rendered":"MBA Students Team Up To Consult Mission Driven Dog Treat Shop, MV Barkery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Social Impact MBA team members Sally Wynn, Lorrin Van Evra, Marek Michalak, and Jessie Ralph delivered a strategic recommendation for MV Barkery, a social impact business selling homemade dog treats on Martha\u2019s Vineyard, as part of the Action Learning project for their Strategy Implementation course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marek Michalak\u201924 says, \u201cThis project resonated deeply with my social impact aspirations.\u201d MV Barkery, operating out of owner and Questrom MBA alumna Edie Prescott\u2019s home, employs her son with autism, Henry Prescott, dog treat baking and decorating extraordinaire, who will age out of the American school system in May of 2024. Edie\u2019s dream is to one day have a bakery storefront that employs neurodiverse adults, with the long-term vision to replicate the Martha\u2019s Vineyard success model and franchise MV Barkery to other US markets. Most importantly, it highlighted an utterly important issue \u2013 how to achieve and measure the social impact KPI\u2019s, and at the same time stay profitable. This insight has equipped me with a nuanced perspective on the intricacies involved in implementing strategies within the unique context of the social sector.
