Colin Krenitsky
MBA Westford, MassachusettsEnergy would seem to be a theme in Colin Krenitsky’s life. Not only is he earning his MBA at Questrom to pursue a career in renewable energy financing, Krenitsky just has a lot of it. Energy, that is.
Part of that energy goes toward his degree, of course. “Boston University’s MBA program stood out for three main reasons,” he explains. “First, Boston University’s expertise in sustainability and corporate social responsibility made it compatible to my career goals in renewable energy. Second, the program’s teaming focus makes it a true differentiator from other schools in the area. Lastly, the huge international enrollment has made it a great opportunity to meet peers from all around the world, and provide an academic environment that mirrors the increasingly global business environment.”
Colin reserves some of his energy for other activities, too. “One of my goals upon entering BU was to become deeply connected to the community through extracurricular activities. I am currently president of the Graduate Finance and Investment Club and serve on the BU Net Impact chapter and Energy Club boards.” Krenitzsky and members of the Graduate Finance Club have even made their way to Omaha for a Q&A and lunch with Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway.
Krenitsky sees career value in extracurriculars. “I’ve gained a lot more exposure to classmates and faculty, been able to network with professionals in my areas of career interest, and have gained valuable real-world management experience.” That includes working as an Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps Fellow at the Denver Housing Authority. While there, he got to engage in a wide variety of projects with consultants, operations staff, the Department of Energy, and the EPA. Best of all, he gained exposure to some methods of energy financing that have enriched his knowledge of the field.
When it comes right down to it, Krenitsky gets energized simply by spending time with his cohort. “Whether it is Thirsty Thursdays at Cornwall’s or the GSC Fall Cruise, there is nothing better than celebrating a week of hard work with your friends and peers!”
